Yesterday came and went in a blur.  I got so carried away with the blog in the morning that I was actually late for work, me, moir, couldnt believe it.

Once I got home from the office, visited and did the shopping, ate soup and got sorted, it was 20 past 3.  Where did the afternoon go?  I didnt do any chores but hay, they will be waiting for me tomorrow. Yes tomorrow because this afternoon I am off out and tonight is scrapbooking.

I got this from a young man that I would love to be my son in law.  He really is very sweet but my daughters think of him as a brother.

Happy Birthday Gail

Yesterday was my sis in laws birthday and here is the card I made for her.  If anyone reading this knows what the stamp is, please do let me know as I need a few more of these cards, for my box.

So as promised, yesterday I did not go on the computer.  I did pop into facebook to see if my daughters were there and I think that was about it.  Goodness how much time do I spend here?  I shall be doing the same thing next Sunday. 

Paul and I caught up with a few chores, went out for lunch and did a little visiting in the afternoon.  I actually sat down and watched Sherlock as well.  A lovely day.

Monday morning and here we go again.  This week is another quite relaxed week for me, Wednesday is fat club, oh and Tuesday is scrap book night and I am having an afternoon out with bestie but apart from that I get to craft every afternoon this week.  Very lucky.

I did a couple of months worth of accounts yesterday and I am surprised at how much better I feel, being on top of things.

My weekend

I am up early today and I think I have caught up with myself (without meeting myself coming back). This is a strange saying that we heard a few years ago with a nurse in hospital when Christiana was having treatment. 

Last night was wonderful.  There were 12 of us who met up for the first time at St. Edmunds Church for our first Christmas Card and Chatter Club.  The room was airy, cosy, welcoming and extremely clean.  A bit chilly to start with but as most of us had layers on, it was warm enough.  Lots of new faces and everyone said they had a great night and would be back on 14th February for our next get together, unless they get better offers.

At £1.50 for the whole evening it was well worth it and there was lots of chatter going on too.  I cant show you the Christmas cards yet as mine need a few finishes touches but I will photograph them as soon as they are done.  I dont intend sticking them all together until November but they will stay in their envelopes all ready to be assembled.

For today, once the chores are done I think I get to play in the craft room as I have lots of new bits to play with.  Lots of new goodies to get ready for my open house, on 25th January and YOU are invited.

Today I decided that it is some of the little things that make each day a bit nicer such as my fountain pen.  I haven't used it for ages but now that it is back up and running again, I love writing things down.  Perfume, I have so many perfumes and dont wear them often enough so I shall give myself a quick spray each morning, even when I am home having a pj day.   A very quick facebook message with my sister each morning starts the day off a treat.  What makes your day a little special?

Flying Hedgehogs

That Friday feeling is here and phew, what a tough week.  I am still running about 2 hours behind everything but hopefully, after the weekend, I can catch up.  I am feeling very calm and not stressed at all, taking it all in my stride.

After my morning at work today I am off to accountants and then its home to get ready for this evening.  I cant wait to get started on my 2014 Christmas cards and for those that may think it is a little mad, that is okay.  I shall be happy doing something and if I am happy, shouldnt you be happy for me?  moving on

I made this one too but its from Christiana, Sophia and Katerina.

While the girls were here over Christmas, they wrote all the birthday cards for the year, brilliant.

I have a lot planned for the weekend and fingers crossed we can fit it all in.  I am not sure how long Paul will be in Derby for so I want to make the most of the time with him, whilst I can.

I have now decided that Sunday will be a day off from it all, whether I go out for the day, have a pj day or whatever, I shall not use my computer on Sundays...we shall see how long that lasts.

Not long until my open house, I shall keep reminding you as I really am hoping for lots and lots of visitors throughout the day for a cuppa, some cake and a chat about crafting and SU.  My whole day is devoted to everyone who walks through the door.  I know I will have tea, coffee and the cappuchino machine will be on too so please, do pop in to see what samples there are, look through the books, see if anything catches your eye on the sale table and, if you want to stay for the day to help out, put your hands up and come for breakfast too.

Who got wet through last night? me on the way back from Slimmers World.  I didnt mind too much  as I lost my 2lb that I wanted to loose.  Fingers crossed that I can do the same again over the next 7 days.  The forecast for Derby is a lot of rain today so I shall not be wearing my lovely new suede court shoes.  I found them from M&S and adore them.   I dont drive in them as I want to protect the heel, I dont go out in them if it is raining and I brush them down each evening to keep them looking nice, I must be mad.


It is happy birthday to my friend Liz today and here is the card that I made for her.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that she gets the card as I am having a little trouble with the local post office.  Things are going missing or taking a long time to get through.  This has happened to me in the past but I thought that they had sorted out their problems.

It is also Millies birthday today, the second eldest grandaughter and I will share her cards with you tomorrow

This afternoon I will be busy getting ready for tomorrows new club, the christmas card and chatter club and lots of new faces should be there.  I shall get my bags packed today then there is no panic tomorrow.  Everyone is welcome so if you are in the Derby area, please do come along.  For more details, please give me a ring on 01332 721877.

I have a Stampin' Up! order to deliver over the weekend, lots of lovely bags here and another order coming in tomorrow.  It is a bit busy but that seems to be the way that 2014 has started off.  I think I shall soon have to advertise for a social committee, someone who can help me out lots and lots and lots, making cards with new products, helping me cleaning craft room, accounts, cutting out kits etc. etc. 

I must now get ready for the day job (well it pays for the girls education).  I hope that you manage to stay warm and dry today and thanks for having a read.

Midweek Musing

A rather late posting from me but better late than never.  I cant believe how busy I have suddenly become.  I am just having a cuppa whilst I type this, multi tasking huh.

I dont get much of a break at work during the 4 hours I am there but getting up early is awful.  When I am not at work I can get up before the larks but once I know I am going to the big office on Raynesway I just dont want to get out of bed.  By the time I am up, showered and dressed, I am late for work and I still have to have a cuppa and breakfast and then that, is the pattern for the day.  I am sure I will get into a routine soon enough.  I havent had time to answer my emails, return phone calls or do any cleaning at all.  Lots of time for coffee and chatting yesterday though so I best not complain too much.

I got a soup maker for Christmas WHOOP WHOOP, who was lucky.  Here is my first batch of soup that we made with it in 25 minutes, Leek and Potato.  When it is heated through I add petite pois peas  and wow, its lovely.

Its also good for the diet, quick and easy when I get in from work and not too much mess, which is a good job as I dont have much time to clean at the moment either.


Speaking of Christmas, I got two wonderful plants in pots and here they are, all ready and raring to go,

they get watered twice a week, I shall keep you up to date on their progress.

Monday morning and back to work for me today.

We managed to get Christmas all boxed up and put back in the loft.  The girls all went back home and arrived safe and sound and the new soup maker has been unpacked, been used and made wonderful potato and leek soup, ready for my lunch when I get home today.  But what do I do with all the cake, biscuits, chocolates etc?  I am trying so hard not to eat them so if you fancy a cuppa, please feel free to pop in tomorrow during Tuesday at Traceys in the afternoon or the evening.  I will have a plate of goodies ready for you.

TAH DAH

I did my yearly accounts over the weekend, goodness, I know I am organised but I certainly let myself down last year.  They were all in a right pickle and took a lot longer than anticipated so, another todo for  2014, monthly accounts the first Sunday morning of each month.

I havent done a lot of crafting over Christmas and have missed doing bits and pieces so this afternoon I shall be leaving the housework and get busy in the craft room for a few hours.

There is a brand new Christmas Card and Chatter Club starting this Friday, 10th January from 6.30 - 9.30ish.  We shall be making our Christmas cards early so that at the end of the year, we are ready.  If you fancy coming along its at St. Edmunds Church on Sinfin Avenue, Shelton Lock, Derby.  I am really looking forward to this as I love making Christmas cards and already have so many little bits.

Up far to early this morning and I know that I will have to have a nap later or a very early night but just woke up and couldnt go back to sleep. 

Happy Birthday to Pauline and Elvie.  Unfortunately I didnt take a photo of Elvies card but we did share a cuppa and a catch up yesterday when I was out on my travels.  I cant tell you how bad the wind was on my way home and the rain, well.  I was glad to get through the front door, eventually.  Here is Pauline's Card and I hope both ladies have a lovely time today,  however they celebrate.

So its the weekend and I am at the hairdressers first thing followed by another couple of house calls that I didnt manage to fit in yesterday, sorry.

Today two of my daughters go home today, so its really sad for me.  I know that I am lucky enough to be able to see them again soon but it is still sad.  I guess that is why I have busied myself over the next week.  As well as trying to get the house put back together there is work I shall make lots of cards and things with some Sale a Bration goodies. There is the new Christmas Card and Chatter Club starting next Friday.  If you fancy making your 2014 Christmas cards, get in touch and I will send you an email with all the details.

Paul took 4 bags to the charity shop yesterday and as well as sorting out his garden shed, we are sorting out the loft.  Well it has to be done doesnt it?

Those that know me know that I love candles and in the past I have burnt the candle and thrown away the jar, how silly am I?  Those little jars are wonderful for storage, here is a little Yankee Candle jar that will be full of buttons later today.

A day with friends

Friday and the last day of the holiday.  I am making the most of today by going out and about visiting some friends.  A day I have been looking forward to for a while.

Yesterday the young adults travelled up from London and we spent a couple of hours in the waiting room at Derby Railway station.  I made them all a picnic tea for them to take on the train as they were staving (and broke).  It was an experience and they told me about their London trip.  They had their eyes opened to drunks everywhere, being followed, getting drenched and not even seeing the fireworks at midnight.  They did enjoy the trip though and here they all are.

They got home home safe and sound around half 11 last night.  Do you like the two little bags that are the same?  Christiana and I got these whilst down town, thought they were so cute.

Good as Gold

What a wet start to 2014 yesterday was.  I got so wet going to Slimmers World last night that I had to come home and get my feet rubbed dry tut tut tut.

Yesterday was a day of sorting out a few more things with Paul, a cupboard, a drawer, rubbish etc. etc.  It isnt often that we get time to have a look through stuff together so it was good.  Christiana downloaded her music and some photographs so that when she goes back to Cyprus, life is a little easier for her too so very productive

Today we are off out at 9am, town and then dunelm.  As I dont have any ironing to do, I can have a rest this afternoon as this evening we are meeting the young adults on their way back from London.  They purchased train tickets from Preston to London and then London to Derby for under £20 in the end.  They had a day around London yesterday shopping, seeing the sights and generally getting shattered.

I didnt manage to get into the craft room yesterday but I hope to do a little more this afternoon.  Christiana sat and wrote all her birthday cards for the whole year yesterday and she was amazed that I had so many, all ready to be sent out and to tell you the truth, so was I.  If you need a quick hand made card please do think of me before going to the shops as I have lots of them all ready to go. 

TAH DAH Here are another card that I made using the new  Good as Gold card kit.


In this kit you get 8 card bases, 8 envelopes and 8 liners, 1 sheet of gold foil tags, 1 sheet printed die-cut tags, 8 pieces of gold elastic cord, 8 pieces of bakers twine, you just need the glue.  These were lovely to make and, if you have additional coloured card, you can make more that 8 of these.

When I went to convention I forgot to take my perfume. Alison came to the rescue by letting me have a squirt of her's, it was called Dot.  Santa decided to put a small bottle of Dot in my Christmas stocking and it is wonderful, here is the bottle.

The first of the next 365 days

Happy New Year to everyone who is reading the blog.  I do hope that if you celebrated last night too much, that you recover quickly. We spent the evening with parents and Christiana.  We made it through to the new year with Gary Barlow who I thought was great but I am very tired today, even after a lie in.

The young adults made it to London YEAH but they were not allowed on to the embankment to see the firework display.  It seems that you have to be on the embankment around 8.30 otherwise, no chance.  I think they are all having a good time though.

Have you noticed the make over?  Trying to give the blog a bit of a face lift, what do you think so far?  I am also getting the blog ready for January 28th, new catalogue, new sale a bration, new crafty projects etc. etc. all exciting stuff.

Yesterday was a day for visitors, we had lots of them and lots of chocolate, cakes, biscuits all got eaten phew.  I am so pleased about this as we have so much of it and the diet is now on.

This year, 2014, is going to be my year, I have decided.  I dont mind sharing this with you and as my sister would say, I am on a journey and I know exactly where I am going.  I am not making any New Year resolutions but will be doing things a little different, each month.  For January I hope to loose 8lbs in weight, make 4 scrapbook pages and get all my birthday cards for February ready.  I shall not complain about work, washing, ironing nor shopping as these things have to be done, no matter what.  I will however try out 4 new recipes, learn how to ice a cake and visit 2 places I have never been before, how about that for a statement.

A bit of a different TAH DAH for you today

These have been knitted, some can go on the tree and some just sit on a plate but all of them contain a Ferrer Roche, scrummy.

I have been told that if I put on hand/nail cream every time I put on my washing up gloves, my hands will become softer and my nails will become harder so for January, that is what I will try.  I will let you know how I get on.

For todays card I have used something that is coming up in the January Sale A Bration on the 28th. 


It is a kit with lots of things in it and I will tell you more tomorrow.
