Juy 27 - before work

My other half, Paul, sometimes has to work away which gives me the opportunity to get a lot of craft stuff out and play but not this week. Had to get card orders out of the way.

I am helping to organise and Open Day of Derby Dabblers, or Craft Fair or whatever you wish to call it. Never done anything like ths before and I must admit that I am enjoying it. Posters have been made and leaflets printed. All the DDs (ladies of the Derby Dabblers) have been asked for bits and pieces as we are having a make and take for children. As there will be a Tombolla lots of unwanted presents and things have been collected.

After a busy day at work a few of us are meeting up tonight to put raffle tickets on the prizes and sort out items for the make and takes.

Tomorrow we shall go into Chellaston (that is where we are holding the event next week) and hand out leaflets and ask people to put up our posters.

We hope to have 6 tables of greeting cards as well as, a make and take room for children, tombolla, jewlery, gifts, cushions, flowers, cakes, charity stall, burnt wood, bric a brac.

All very exciting.

The big event is happeing on 4th August

July 26 - All about Derby Dabblers

I started to dabble in card making about 2 years ago, or is it 3. Thats the problem when you get to my age, things are a bit blurred. After being on a well known forum I plucked up the courage to start a once a month meeting. The first one was held at my house and 4 total strangers came to the house (hubby stayed in his shed). We all got on really well and a week later I foud a community centre that would let us use a small room once a month. I began e-mailing the 4 people to tell them what would happen and the e-mail list grew and grew. I now have 40 people on the list and we all meet twice a month. Oh, if anyone in the Derby area reads this, let me know.

There are about 8 - 10 of us that attending the social nights (meetings) and we all learn different techniques. Am sure we will run out of ideas soon though.

It is a good night out, cheap at £3.50 and as well as learning something we have a laugh. There are no stand up demos or anything like that, we just help each other out and natter away.

So that is how Derby Dabblers came to be

July 26th After Work

I was hoping to get on here a bit earlier but finished work late and then had visitors.

I have tried to put a card on to see if I can do this, so fingers crossed that it has worked. It is one of a few that I have made this week for an order from a work mate. She asked for 4 all the for the same person so they all had to be different. She was pleased with them.

July 26 - before work

Hay, I actually started a blog. I guess its the same as a daily diary but others can read it.

This is the first entry so obviously its a bit of a play. Now that I have actually spent the time to set it all up I have to go and get myself ready for work a bit sharpish.
