DAY THIRTY ONE - Home sweet home

Good morning.  Oh my we are up so early today, our body clocks are still on European time but it does mean that we get a great start on the day.  Unpacking first though and to get the washing machine on.

We have had an amazing time away, I cant call it a holiday as we didnt do a lot of resting. We have cleaned, put up so many IKEA pieces (the royal we that is).  Had lots and lots of visits with my daughters although Katerina has been poorly nearly the whole time we were there.  We have had a couple of meals out, ordered meals in, a wander on the beach etc. and we have set up our very own holiday home for the next visit.

Our journey home was an experience. Getting up at 2am, picking up daughter at 3.30am to go to the airport.  We pick her up and she takes the car back to hers.  Through the airport and in the air at 6am.  After a 'not so bad' flight we land at heathrow and start our journey on the underground.  Quite a few stations were closed/partly closed due the industial action and we were on and off trains and tubes for the next couple of hours.  It was so interesting to see some of the sights, hear the converstaions but most of all, the majority of people were happy and chatty and so helpful to each other.

Finally made it to St. Pancras and a well earned meal and a cup of tea.  Nice to see that all the iron work in the station had the logo 'Butterley, Derbyshire' all over them.

After a break we headed for our final train and got into Derby and a taxi home.  It took us over 17 hours to get home but what an adventure, we really enjoyed it.

Obviously we were shattered and in bed by 8pm but that does mean at 3am this morning *ping* wide awake club.  So today it will be nanny naps, snoozers and a slow start.

Did you know that today is 'Inspire your heart with art day"  I certainly didnt know that there was such a day so,  to celebrate it, I shall find my craft room and hopefully have a creative hour.

I shall be placing an online order later today, around 1pm.  If you would like to add to this order and collect your goodies from The Craft Room, Derby once they arrive, please do get in touch with me.  If you need help with an order I am always happy to help if I can.

Monday

DAY TWENTY TWO Meandering Meadow

Good morning.  We have woken up to some sunshine today, always a great way to start the day and it does lighten my mood no end.  I have watched the news now that we have a tv and now that we can get UK TV stations and wow, this storm is causing some problems.  I do hope that you haven't suffered too much with it.  I also hope it blows itself out over the next week yikes.  We have had to purchase a package for a month to see the UK TV stations and it's great to keep up with the news.

No crafting has been done over the last couple of weeks, I don't really have anywhere to craft but I did bring a kit with me and hopefully, I can get a play with it later today...I keep saying this and things keep popping up to stop me from crafting but, that is life.

I did however, have a play with a card template recently that I saw another Stampin' Up! demostrator shared called 'Polaroid' and here is my take on it.

I used the lovely Meandering Meadow Designer Speciality Papers and I just love the card.  It really does look like a polaroid photo especially with the paperclip.  The card has been embossed with the online exclusive Basic 3D Embossing Folders.  There are three folders in the pack and I can honestly say that these are the most used embossing folders that I have ever owned.  I have blown up the photo so that you can see this one in more detail.

If you click on the picture of the embossing folders, a new window will open and you will see more details about the folders.

To find out more about the papers, click on the image below, it will take you straight to the shop to see them in more detail.

Have you tried this style of card before?

Well I had best get on with my day before it all runs away with me.  Thank you so much for having a read on this Monday.  Tracey x

Sunday

DAY TWENTY ONE - Stippled Roses Wreath

Good morning.  Sunday and not a lot of plans today, which is good.  Time to catch up on a few things and get lots of cuddles from the girls this afternoon.

We (the royal we) have been building up lots of Ikea units however, some of the parts have been badly damaged.  The customer service team has been amazing and will deliver two units next week and take away the damaged ones, brilliant.  What we have discovered is the the Ikea products now come from either Sweeden or Lithuania.  We didnt know that.

Driving along the motorway last week a police car with lights flashing overtook us, the police always have to have their lights flashing when they are driving.  I didnt think anything of it.    The police car then indicated and pulled onto the hard shoulder "hubby" says I, "do you think they want me to stop".  His reply was"no" so I carried on.  A few second later, said police car comes right up to my boot, flashing his lights and I said "opps, I think he does want me to pull over".

We pulled over and the policeman asked who owned the car, Hubby said, "my wife does, oh or is it me, no its me oh hang on....my daughter is the registered keeper" we all laughed.

The policeman then asked, "where does your daughter live?" "urmmmm we dont know, she just moved house" well his face was a picture.  "so where do you live" "urmmmmm we dont know the address, just a minute, as we have just moved house". I dont think he believed us.  Fortunately we had a photo of a letter with the address on so was able to show him.

The policeman asked,"can I see your passport". "No" I said as I dont carry it around with me.  "Here is my driving license instead".....it had expired a couple of years ago oppps.

What hope did we have especially when he told us that the the reason he pulled us over was because just two weeks ago they had been given mobile ANPR and could tell that the tax had ran out on our car, 7 months earlier OMG.  It was an instant fine but no points on this occasion.  It was an experience but what must they have thought *laughing*

We did manage a very 'bracing' walk along the sea front yesterday and stopped off to admire the view in a well protected beach bar on the beach.  Boy is was windy and rather cold.  However, we popped into a supermarket at 8pm in the evening and as the wind had stopped, it was quite warm.  This morning it is going to rain and it is extremely cloudy.

Here is a card that Ruth has made using the Stippled Roses stamp set from Stampin' Up!

  • From the stamp set Stippled Roses by Stampin' Up!, the roses were stamped in a cherry cobbler ink and the leaves around the roses, in old olive ink.  They were stamped onto watercolour card and then dabbed a little with a water painter.  It really makes them stand out.
  • The main leaves were inked with old olive, stamped off once and stamped as second generation.  a little crumb cake ink was added on top, they were also spritzed with a little water before being stamped, dabbed slightly.
  • These were then cut out with the co-ordinating dies before being arranged as a wreath on the card.
  • Some leaves were die cut out and cut into sprigs
  • A few spots from a retired stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge, were stamped off once and added to the background.
  • The sentiment, which has an amazing font, is from the Stippled Roses stamp set
This set is in the new January - April mini catalogue and is one of my favourite from the catalogue.  All the products used are in the details below.  As we are in Sale a Bration season, should you wish to purchase the bundle (stamp and die set), you can get your hands on one of the many FREE sale a brations products.

Wednesday

DAY SEVENTEEN Flight and Airy as well as kits

Good evening, we have had a day full of rain, rain and even more rain.  The thunderstorms have been amazing to listen to and the lightening has been intense.  I do believe that the storm has passed over but what a view I have had which is a good job really a we couldnt go out.  With so much rain the drainage system cant cope and the roads get flooded so quickly.  Fingers crossed we can get out and about for an hour this evening.

Stampin' Up! have introduced two new kits for the month of January.

For the rest of the year, Stampin' Up! will release two kits each month so there is going to be plenty to choose from and to keep us busy.  If you would like to know more about the kits that are available, click on the link below.  I am happy to help with any queries you may have.

I have a few friends that are celebrating birthdays and as this year 2024 is all about 'the little things that make the difference' I have decided to give hand made gifts.  This is my first set for the year

The gift bag was created from one sheet of 12x12 Flight and Airy papers which are a FREE Sale a Bration products.  The gift tag has been created from another of the papers in the set.  I teamed up the papers with pale pink for the box and with Night of Navy for the birthday card.  The hessian bag has a stazon image on it from the Stippled Roses stamp set with a little something inside that I hope will come in handy. The brochure for Sale a Bration (where you get a FREE product with a £45 purchase) is below.  To have a look through, just click on the image below.
