Friday

Derby Dabblers and cakes

Good morning and phew, so pleased it is Friday.  I have quite a lot on today but will get through my list bit by bit and will end the day at the Derby Dabblers Craft Club.  Still plenty of time for you to join us if you fancy it.

Today is Charleighs birthday and she is eight.  Charleigh is my nieces daughter and we managed to make her a birthday cake.  A big thank you to everyone that tried all my samples.  In the end I made 6 samples and it was well worth it.  I now hope to get myself booked on a class of sorts to learn how to put fondant icing on a cake.  This does mean there will be more sample cakes in the future. I will get a photo of THE cake later when her mum decorates it, so can share it with you tomorrow.

I do however have another couple of cake photos.

These were my first solo decorated cupcakes.  The ones in the plant pots were for mum and dad and the others are for crafting friends.  Getting into practice so I can make some for my girls when I see them.  I loved making them and found it to be so relaxing.  Paul is not a fan of the butter cream icing so I did this for him.

I think I have done enough baking and cake decorating over the last few weeks so will have some time off from it now.  Back to trying other things that I find relaxing.

I have joined a yoga group once a week.  Now I am not saying I can do it, I am not sure I enjoyed it but it was lovely to get out and try something new.  Due to my ailments (there are a few), I cant get down on the floor, well I could but I wouldnt be able to get back up but on this yoga group, it can be done on a chair!  I will be returning next week and I will let you know how I get on.

Well I had better get a bit of a wiggle on as I have to go and get some wedding invitation card for a certain daughter.

Thanks for having a read, I hope you have a fantastic Friday.  Tracey x

Thursday

Awash in Beauty, cakes and hotels

Good morning. Up early as I have a bit of a busy day today.  THE birthday cake is made.  All my lovely family and crafting friends have been guinea pigs trying out the last 6 practice cakes and whilst they are not perfect, they have tasted wonderful and looked fine.  Birthday girl has gone for a fondant icing cake with rainbow ribbon.  Her mum has butterflies so it should look lovely.  Photo to follow tomorrow.

Get together tonight and there are a couple of places if you fancied joining us.

Do let me know as soon as you can so that I can set another place for you.

In between everything else today, I am going to have an attempt at my first solo decorated cupcakes, photos to follow.  I want to take 2 little cup cake plant pots over to mum and dad later.  Mum isnt too good.  She had a fall at the weekend and has had to spend a night in hospital.  She has really damaged her face, head, hands, knees and leg and is struggling to walk. I am so surprised that nothing got broken but she is putting on such a brave face.

When we went to the RHS at the weekend we decided to stay overnight in Manchester and Paul found this wonderful hotel.  It is called the Kimpton Clock Tower Hotel.

It was built in the 1890s and is 3 buildings all knocked into one hotel and the history can be seen as you walk (and get lost) in the corridors.  The staff were amazing and if you are ever looking for somewhere to stay in Manchester, I really recommnd this place.  In fact, I may organise a shopping trip just so that I can stay here again.

We were having a play with Awash in Beauty and Sally created this wonderful card.

The wreath has been made with one of the dies from the 'bundle' and punched out in lots and lots of different coloured card. Full details of all the products used are below.  If you would like more information about the card please, do get in touch as I would love to help if I can.

Would you like to come along and join us at Derby Dabblers tomorrow evening?  Just grab a few crafty items to keep you busy for a couple of hours and meet lots of lovely like minded folk.

We shall have a game of bingo, there should be some crafting items looking for new homes and you can bring along items that you no longer need that others may find a use for.  If you have something in your stash that you dont know how to use, bring it with you, I bet someone will know.  If you would like more details, please get in touch.  You will need a cup/mug if you are coming along.

Well I had best go and get myself ready and get my baking pinny on.  Thank you so much for having a read and I hope you have a terrific Thursday.  Tracey x

Wednesday

Tattan Park, cakes, crafting and Sweet Songbird

Good morning.  A bit of a cooler start the day today, not a complaint as I shall not be complaining about the weather ever again.  We have had such a big change in it over the last couple of weeks from plus forty degrees, to wet damp mornings and today a lot fresher.  One of the benefits of living in England.

It has been a busy couple of weeks for me with one thing or another but this weekend hubby and I took time out to go to visit our very first RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Flower Show at Tatton Park which is just outside Manchester.  It was amazing and I am already hoping to go back next year.  A bonus for us was that as it was the very last day of the show, we were able to purchase a few plants too.  We got lots of ideas of what to do with our garden and the smells and sights were amazing.  I can certainly recommend it to anyone. Here are a couple of photos of plants I hadnt seen before.

Some nice ideas of what we can do with the greenhouse once we have planted all the seeds on.  I am now looking for decorative boxes.

On the way out from the park, it was pouring it down.  I was so surprised to see the animals all gathered under the trees from the rain.

Do you fancy a crafty get together tomorrow night?  All the details are below and it would be lovely to see you.  My contact details are further down the page so get in touch if you would like to book or to find out more.

Some lovely little treat boxes were created by using the Sweet Songbird stamp set and dies

This is a fantastic little bundle and can be used for so many different occasions.  Well here is one.  They were filled with chocolates and sweets and I gave one to everyone that came along for crafty week.   More details of what I used can be found below.  If you would like to order a bundle (the stamps and dies) do let me know as I shall be placing an order this week.  If you live local, you can collect your bundle (or anything else you may wish to order) directly from me.  Postage is then just 70p.

We also tried out cake no. 6 which was a very lemon cake, fondant icing and a few decorations. I am still struggling with the cracking and 'elephants skin' so hoping to have a lesson or two.

It still tasted so wonderful though.

Well I had better go and start my day.  Today I bake THE  real birthday cake.  Thank you for having a read and if you need any crafty help, advise or fancy a crafty cuppa and a chat, I will be in the craft room from 2pm.  Tracey x

If you would like to place an order direct with me, for delivery to Alvaston where you collect it once the goodies have arrived, please do get in touch.
