Good morning, a bit of a later start to the day today. Paul is taking me to look for a new front door. Since moving into this house we have decorated every room, nook and crany apart from the hallway and the first thing to do is to get a new front door. We may have to have some building works done to get a door fitted so we shall do it bit by bit. Front door first.
I had a play with some blending pens, isopropyl alcohol and vellum. I had tried this technique a few times before but it never turned out the way I wanted it to so I put it all to one side. Then my wonderful Stampin' Up! friend did a little video tutorial on how to do the technique and her explanation was perfect and it led me to be able to practise again and come up with this. It also helped crafting with friends at the same time, so inspiring.
So, how did I do it, I have used a piece of vellum to scribble over with my blends in 3 different colours, Polished Pink, Fresh Freshia and Soft Succulent. I then used a paint brush and isopropyl alcohol to move the colour around and when it was dry, I got the blend pens out again and the isopropyl alcohol and I repeated this several times until I was happy with the result.
I got a piece of A4 Basic White card and cut it in half. I scored one of the pieces in half to create my card base. With the piece that was remaining, I cut in half again and took 1/2" off around the two sides. Using the Rectangle Stitched Dies, I cut out a stitched rectangle. I added tape to the reverse side of the edge of the rectangle and stuck my decorated vellum on to it. I then added the other 1/4 sheet of basic white card over the vellum so that it was sandwiched in between the two. I put 3D foam pads on the back of that and stuck it down to my card base.
Taking the Nature's Harvest set I cut out one of the flowers and stuck that over the vellum, making it the central point of the card and I love it. No sentiment as yet as I am not sure when it will be used but I am so pleased I made it.
