DAY TWO HUNDRED AND NINE - Painted Lavender swap cards

Good morning, it is a catch up day for me today.  The to do list is at the ready and fingers crossed I can get everything done by the end of the day and if not, there is always tomorrow.

The last few days have been rather busy but very enjoyable.  Earlier in the week I made some cards to take with me to Lincoln to a Stampin' Up! UK & Ireland Demonstrator event. The first event I have been to for a very long time.   There were over 60 folk going so quite a few cards were made.

I put on my big girl pants and drove to Lincoln (two hours away from me) on my own.  This was a major milestone as I hadnt driven anywhere on my own except for local places, since covid and it was so daunting but I am so proud of myself as I did it.

I booked into a hotel, met a lady called Anne and then we both went and met another few ladies for a bite to eat in Lincoln on Friday night.   The food was wonderful, when it arrived but the service was a bit of a nightmare. Early Friday morning saw me driving to meet another 60+ ladies  (who were total strangers) in a room filled with crafting buzz, chatter, laughter and such a wonderful atmosphere.  Oh how I have missed meeting up with fellow demonstrators and I cant wait to do it again.

On the day I learnt quite a few tips (which I shall share), made a few cards and was inspired by so many. If any of the lovely ladies do happen to read this blog post, hello and a big thank you.  I dont think we realise/appreciate the impact we have on others.

One of the cards I made to swap was this.

I used an A4 sheet of thick basic white card, cut down to A5 in size (A4 cut in half) and scored it in half again to create a base card. I do tend to use the thick basic white card for card bases as it feels substantial, stands up alone and so wonderful to work with.

With a basic white piece of card (Stampin' Up! do sell two different thicknesses of the basic white card) measuring 9 x 13 cm I used the Deckled Edge Circle dies to cut out a circle towards the top of the card, and created a panel.

Placing this panel piece on top of the card base, I put 4 very faint pencil lines inside the circle so that it would should me where abouts the image would be seen.

Using the grass stamp (well I think it is grass) from the Painted Lavender stamp set and old olive ink, I stamped grass along the bottom edge of my circle lines.  Inking up the flowers stamp in Fresh Freesia Ink and Gorgeous Grape ink I randomly added some of the taller flowers, slightly overlapping the colours.

Once the ink was dry, using a small blending brush I went over the grass area with old olive ink and I went over the flowers using Pool Party in  on the small blending brush to create a background.

I stamped the panel with the sentiment 'enjoy your day' from Thoughtful Expressions stamp set,  using first/second generation Gorgeous Grape ink and put dimensionals (3d foam pads) onto the back of it. This makes the panel piece stand out from the card base, creating a window to see the stamped image.

Adding a Brushed Brass Butterfly finished the card.  I could have added glitter/wink of stella but decided against it.

I received lots of lovely comments from people I swapped with so I think it was worth doing.  I have added a full list of products that I used below but if you have any queries please, do get in touch.

Thank you so much for having a read today, Tracey x

It was son in laws birthday whilst we were away and this is the card that I took with me to give to him.

It is a retired stamp set but seems to go down very well with the chaps in my life.  Lots of folk ask me to make this type of card for them so it will be a 'keeper' stamp set.  Do you have favourite stamps that you use over and over again?

I am off to a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator get together at the end of the week so today I shall start making some cards to swap with other other demonstrators.  I am quite excited about going.  I can tell you more about it when I get back.

Thank you so much for having a read today, hope you have a super Sunday.  Tracey x

Saturday

DAY TWO HUNDRED AND ONE - Panda Friends

Good morning.  We are now back home after a wonderful holiday in Cyprus.

Lots of gliches in the internet systems and posts that were planned never got published.  Internet was hit and miss and to be honest, life was rather hectic, so a bit of catching up to do over the weekend with regards to letting you know what is happening in the Stampin' Up! world as well as my little world.

I am really pleased to say that mother and Alexandros (we can call him Alex) are both doing very well. So proud of Katerina being a super mum, hubby is a definate hands on amazing dad and Sophia is a wonderful Aunty.  I have had quite a few cuddles and it wasnt that easy to leave them all behind.  Katerina doesnt want photos putting on the internet but I shall be very happy to share those that I have with folk as I see them.

We got back home very early on Thursday morning after delays but its nice to be home.  I thought we were home on Wednesday opps.  Only had a few hours sleep before Thursday got into full swing and then yesterday I was up at 4am again.  I know my body clock is all over the place but a 3am start this morning was a little too much so at 6am, I went back to bed for a couple of hours.  So I shall now glide into the weekend at a slow pace.

I had already planned a Kit Night for last night  and we had an amazing get together putting together lots of Stampin' Up!  kits.

Here are some of the photos of some of the kits.  We sit and chat, laugh a lot and get the kits done in between.  It was rather warm last night though so not as productive as normal.

The next Kit Night get together will be on Friday 9th August and you more than welcome to come along to join us.  We shall be in The Craft Room, Derby and meet up at 6pm until 9pm ish.  If you have a kit or two just bring them along or I am more than happy to get one ordered for you.  To see all the kits available please click on the image below and a new window will open up for you to have a browse through.

There will be a new tab appear on top of the blog over the weekend with details of all the kits.

I put a kit togeteher called Panda Friends and at £14 I am really pleased with it.

I didnt add any sentiments nor embellishments, I will add those as and when I need them.  I can then pick a sentiment for the ocassion and I may not want embleshiments if the card is to be sent to a little one.

Well I had best get on with my day, thank you so much for having a read.  Tracey x

Friday

DAY ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY SIX - Layers of Beauty

Good morning.  I spy a few clouds which are very welcome as it is a tad warm already.  I was up at the crack of dawn today, well actually it was slightly before.

I took this around 5.30ish when everywhere was quiet and extremely still.  It's a great way to start the day.  After a wonderful yet hectic day yesterday, not a lot will be happening today.  Hope to get for a paddle, have some lovely food this evening and of course, see the family.

This is a card with a coloured card base, Melon Mambo.  I think it would work with lots of colours.

The large stamped image is from the Layers of Beauty stamp set which has been stamped, in black, onto a panel of Basic White card.  This has then been layered onto Basic Black card stock.  Both of these were then adhered to the Melon Mambo card base.  Another image was stamped onto Watercolour Card and then coloured in using the Watercolour Pencils that Stampin' Up! have.  Of course, Melon Mambo was the colour used and then it was fussy cut out, placed on dimensionals and added to the card panel.  The sentiment was stamped and cut out to complete the card.  Paula created this at one of our get togethers.  If you would like to make this card as well as another two using the stamp stamp set, do let me know as I am organising. a morning get together on Monday 29th July.

Then there is a brand new kit called Garden of Thanks.  It looks like it is another great kit and this will be going into my shopping basket tomorrow.

Again, by clicking on the image below, a new page will open up and you can read all about the kit.

Online Exclusives, dont forget that these products are not included in any brochures nor catalogues.

Did you see the new Stampin Glass Mat Studio that lots of brand new demostrators managed to get their hands on when they joined Stampin' Up! earlier this year?  Well this is now available to purchase.  It is only available for as long as supplies last.

The heavy duty glass mat comes printed with a ruler and grid lines for easy measuring.  The large surface space give ample room for spreading out whilst crafting.  The safety-tempered glass has a heat and scratch resistant surface that wipes clean with the included cloth and water.  The reusable cloth also cleans ink off your stamps.   The nonslip, heat resistant and waterproof silicone mat features six palette squares for mixing colours or holding small ink spots in place, whilst crafting
