Good morning and as I have the windows open, I can hear the birds twittering. No cats up trees so far today but then again, there is no sitting in the kitchen looking out of the window. We have a small table in the sitting room that we use for breakfast, it looks just like a B&B, quite lovely.

So yesterday was day 1 of the kitchen renovation and I must say, I am impressed with the builders. They did nothing but laugh and joke all day long, no bad language and boy did they get a lot done. Today they are going to create an awful lot of dust so they are putting up plastic sheeting so that it doesnt get through the doors so Christiana and I will go out.

As promised here is another card made similar to mother's day card for a lovely friend who celebrated her birthday on Sunday.

If you would like a go at making this card, there will be a one off hour get together to do this on a Sunday morning in April as well as a Monday morning. Dates are to be confirmed.

The next Stamperettes, series 18, is due to start on 28th March and there are only TWO places left. Not sure what the Stamperettes group is? It's a group of 10 ladies who agree to purchase at least £15 worth of Stampin' Up! goodies each month, for a period of 10 months. Each month this will total an order of a minimum of £150 so each person in turn will be a virtual hostess and get at least £15 to spend. It really is something for nothing.

Monday

And so it begins

Good morning and a damp start to the day and new week. Temperatures are a lot higher than this time last week outside as well as inside.

Today is supposed to be the day that the kitchen work starts.

It should have been last week but due to the bad weather and the builders girlfriend having a baby, things were put on hold. So the kitchen is empty and I now how a dining living room, a kitchall, yes my hall is now my kitchen.

Things will be a little awkward for a while but we will manage for the next 4 - 5 weeks.

I am in the craft room all day today....no suprise. If you fancy coming over, please do. We are going to be having a play with embossing.

Here is my card that I made for mum.

I tried lots of different stamps and colours with this and was finally happy when I did this. More details tomorrow when I have another card to share with you.

Good morning and although it is rather damp outside, it is certainly a lot warmer. Still no builders here and no news as yet. That means we get another cooked meal tonight.

Yesterday Christiana and I had a bite to eat in Marks. It was so nice just to nip out with her (thanks for the lift) change her dress and do something together. She even managed to walk a little bit too. I think she is pushing herself a little more each day, which is good.

Today is a craft room kinda day. Mr. UPS is expected, bless him. I never know what time he will arrive but I do know, it will be today.

We woke up this morning to a cat thinking it was a bird.

I was eating breakfast looking out of our window to see this daft cat trying to catch the magpie. The noise was awful and upon closer inspection, there were lots of magpies coming and going, they even went and flew directly above the poor cat. Eventually the birds left and the cat started to climb down, it fell a bit, stumbled, got upside down and climbed down a bit more. It was interesting to watch for half an hour.

Monday

Monday morning

Good morning on this warmish day in Derby. We had so much rain yesterday and last night that there is hardly any snow around now, phew. I really dont like the snow. It is lovely to look at but I cant get out when it snows as I have no confidence in driving on it.

Today is the day that the builders were due to start our new kitchen but because of the poor weather last week, they are delayed by a few days. I am not sure when they will start but we are more or less ready for them.

We have had a good weekend, a girly meal out on Saturday with the family. Loved the food and the company. Ollie took this photo of us all

Christiana has had another chilled weekend and is still improving each day. We shall see what the consultants say to her on Wednesday as she is hoping to go and get some warmth in Cyprus very soon and I cant blame her.

The craft room has had a clean and some new additions. I have looked at lots of things and sorted out lots of things too.

Some of the kitchen plants have moved in as I dont really know where else to put them. They are looking good on the shelf though.

Frozen Friday

Good morning and it is still in the minus figures here. We had a day at home yesterday, the weather just wasnt fit enough for either of us to go out. Paul, bless him, managed to get a bit of shopping on his way home. And the snow is still here. Christiana is now wishing for sunshine.

One of the benefits of being stuck in the house is that lots of little pottering jobs are being done, sorted and put away or thrown away. Tonight it is the start of the major kitchen removals as the building work will start on Monday. The hall, conservatory and living room will have excess furniture for a few weeks.....another part of the jigsaw puzzle we call home. It will be so worth it when it is all done.

Paul dug a path to the craft room last night so I wouldnt slip or stumble in the snow and ice which meant that we were able to go and play. This is what was made.

I just love the versatility of this stamp set and you can use any colours with it at all. There are still a few more elements to play with and if chance allows today, we will be playing in the craft room later.

White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Derby

Good morning and never mind about white rabbit for the new month, it is white everything here in Derby.

3 inches of snow first thing this morning, not the Spring scenes I was hoping for.

This is the path that needs to be cleared before I can get into my crafty space

It does make a lovely picture though. I know Christiana wanted to see snow but goodness, sometimes we have to be a bit careful what we wish for.

Today is the day we should have gone to Glasgow to see the x-factor. We decided last week that we couldnt leave Christiana on her own or with anyone else but how fortunate as no one can get in to Glasgow at the moment. I dont know if the show will be cancelled but the trains are not running so we wouldnt have been able to go anyway.

Yesterday it was a day at home and just look at what was created

The Magical Day stamp set is certainly very magical as it is addictive. I saw this on the internet made by Mindy and I just had to make it myself, I know a little girl (as well as a big girl) that will love this. You too can make this card

Cut Crumb Cake card to make your card base and then some Basic Black Card to add a matt. Cut a smaller piece of Crumb Cake card to fit inside the Black piece and this is the piece that is decorated. I havent put sizes as everyone likes to make different sized cards but mine is a C5 card if that helps.
Place the template onto your small Crumb Cake Card and using one of the embossing paste tools, scrape some embossing paste over it, smoothing it as you go and moving the excess around. This will take about 20 minutes to dry (if it isnt too thick) so put to one side.
Using the largest square from the stitched shapes framelits, run this through the bigshot.
Using Momento ink stamp out the dragon in the middle of the framelit. Again with Momento ink stamp out the flame coming out of his mouth.
Take the Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Card and using the largest square from the stitched shapes framelits, run this through the bigshot. Very gently colour this in with the old olive light blends marker.
Colour the dragon in using both the light green, dark green and yellow/orange blend markers
Stick the stamped image on the the now green glimmer card at an angle. Stick these to the crumb cake embossed card and stick all of these to the Basic Black Card and then onto the card base.
Using Versa mark on basic black card, stamp out a Happy Birthday greeting from Perennial Birthday stamp set. Quickly sprinkle white embossing powder over this and heat it up. Cut up the greeting and using 3D foam pads, stick it onto the card
