Good morning! Yesterday was my birthday, and it was truly a fantastic day. It began with the joy of opening so many thoughtful cards and gifts. I was absolutely spoiled, and I can’t express how much I appreciate all the effort and love that went into making them. I know a little piece of everyone's heart was poured into each one.
After I got showered and ready, we started the day with a lovely morning coffee, followed by some snuggles with one of my daughters and the little one. Then, we headed to a fancy hotel for a light lunch, though I wasn’t too hungry after enjoying a Danish with my coffee. We took a scenic drive, had a quick change of clothes, and then it was time for dinner. My daughters, their husbands, and sons all gathered for a pasta dinner and birthday cake. It was such an emotional moment for me, especially since it’s been over 25 years since we’ve all been together on my birthday.
I wasn’t the only one celebrating a birthday yesterday, my uncle also had his special day! This is the card I made for him. I used the Loveliest Tree stamp set and my Stampin' Write Pens.
I began by colouring (squiggling over) the foliage with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow pens, the branches and trunk with Early Espresso and then added more of the green tones around the bottom of the tree trunk.
For the background, I squeezed the Balmy Blue ink pad to create a pool of ink in the ink pad lid, then used a wet paintbrush to add water and create a soft, washed effect. I repeated this process with Granny Apple Green for a bit of contrast. I mounted the image onto Early Espresso card stock and then placed it on a Balmy Blue card base. The sentiment was printed on my computer and I used a dauber with Balmy Blue ink on it to give it a little colour.
