Midweek Musings

Still lovely and warm.  I am a happy bunny with the weather and I dont mind a bit of rain either, its really good for the plants.  I have a few photos of the garden to share with you tomorrow, well really its for my daughters to look at but you can peek too.

Can you believe that it has taken me over 40 minutes to get back £13.59p that is mine.  Katerina had a new mobile and I set her up on orange the same as me.  This was so that we could have free telephone conversations.  Well it didnt work out too well (I got big bills) and then orange were a bit naughty.  Katerina then discovered that the majority of her friends were with O2 and if she got a pay as you go O2 sim card she could talk to her friends for free.....we changed.  Well Orange owed me £13.59p and they sent me a cheque, made payable to Stamping Out huh?  I have called and called them and complained, pleaded and have been promised the earth but in reality, got nothing.  Well today I had a problem with my telephone so I rang them again.  I explained all this about Katerinas phone to the lovely lady on the phone and said that I didnt know why orange just couldnt credit me £13.59 from my next bill and be done with it.  She said sounds a great idea, I will do it for you now and proceded (or so she said) to discount this amount of money from my next bill.  RESULT.

Here is a card that I dont think I have shared with you before, its one that Jane made using the SU Owl Stamp, isnt it wonderful

Its pie for tea tonight so I had best get my skates on and nip to the shop.  Mother in law is coming for tea, as she usually does on a Wednesday and its lovely to see her.

I have a SU order going in tomorrow, if you would like anything, give me a ring on 01332 721877 and I can add your wishlist to my order, even if its just a pack of card or an ink pad.

Thanks for having a read and have a lovely evening

Monday

Sunny Monday

Two weeks ago I went and had my eyes tested and discovered I needed new glasses, well it wasnt a surprise as I had been struggling a little bit.  So last week I went and picked up my new pair of glasses, wore them for half an hour the first day....had a headache.  I put them on for 45 mins the following day, had a migraine.  Last week I had 3 migrains and 2 very bad headaches so it had to be the glasses.  I went back to opticians at the weekend, they checked the lenses, yes just as prescription so it was suggested that I gave it another week and then I shall have a re-test.  Has anyone else ever had any problems when they have changed strength of glasses, they are just reading glasses that I use for crafting and on the computer.  I would be really interested in knowing if anyone else has had something similar.

Well the start of the week and the forecast isnt looking too bad.  Today was lovely and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will last.

Here are a few little notelets I made using a stamp that had never seen ink, I am terrible.

I have lots of crafting stuff sat in a box that I wont use and lots of stamps that I want to use, just never had the time.  Today I have caught up with lots of little chores so that hopefully, I will have the time to use my stamps.

Thanks for having a read, I hope you have a lovely evening and I shall be back again in a few days

Sunday

Birthday Cakes

As promised here are the cakes for Ollies birthday party, some butterfly cakes, iced lemon and lemon cream cakes.  Note the cake stand and plates.....arent I naughty.  I loved making these and I shall be making more butterfly cakes for the next Derby Dabblers meeting.

Stay at home Sunday

What a bleak start to the day we are having in Derby, its raining, very gray and very miserable out there, I guess that means I need to stay home today.  I was up with the larks this morning and have already done a few chores.  We had a wonderful afternoon yesterday, it was my neices son Ollie, first birthday party.  I made a few cakes which I would like to share with you but, I cant download photos from my camera onto the computer.  I just dont know how to do it so hopefully, Paul will show me later.  I can share these cards with you though.

These have all be made using the Sale A Bration papers, Everyday Enchanment which you can get your hands on in just over a weeks time.

Dont forget to check out the Christmas card section of my blog, it is filling up quite nicely now with some Christmas card ideas.

Thanks for having a read and as soon as i learn how to upload the cake photos, I shall pop them on.  Have a wonderful Sunday and I hope you stay dry.

Friday

A garden party

Yes, earlier this week there was a garden party in my garden.  Quite a few participants, all of the feathered kind, I wasnt invited.
If you click on the photograph you should be able to see the birds, I cant tell you how much of a delight it was to watch them.
Here you have got dove and 3 gold finches
Robin decides to see what all the noise is about and joins in the fun
Then the sparrows dont want to miss out on the fun.

I am not sure if you remember this wonderful little book that was made for me using the Everyday Enchantment papers?

They were a Sale a Bration item and lots of people got them for free.  Unfortunately a lot of people didnt get them but watch this space.....

No cards to share with you today but I am sure that wont spoil your weekend.  Thanks for having a read and have a wonderful weekend and, if you have time, leave me a comment to let me know what you are up to over the next couple of days.

Thursday

Longest Day of the year

21st June is supposed to be the longest day of the year as well as it being Jaynes birthday.  I hope that she has had a wonderful day.  Here is the card that I made
I am sure that she will have had a great day, despite the weather.

I made some cakes earlier this week, which have all gone now, I spent the whole afternoon sitting there decorating and just loved it but wow, what a mess.

I think that next time I shall do it in two stages, one day bake and then decorate the cakes the following day.  I shall be making some lemon cakes tomorrow for Ollies birthday party and I am sure there will be lots left over for me to take into work next week.

I am spending an afternoon looking through my stash to make Christmas cards.  I have a few ideas up my sleeve that I want to try out.

Thanks for having a read and I hope you manage to stay dry

Monday

Happy Birthday Ollie

The weekend soon went by.  Saturday Paul and I had a wander into town, I think the rest of Derby did too as it was soo busy.  We managed to get the things we went for and had a lovely evening in front on the telly.  Sunday was busy busy busy.  With it being dads day we invited dad for lunch, along with mums of course.  By the time we had lunch, and the grandchildren visited it was quite late.  I guess me getting up at half 10 didnt help too much but hay, sometimes I do have a lie in.

We did manage to get a few chores done in the garden but thats about all.

Ollie, my neice's son is one today, goodness cant believe it has gone so quickly, such a lot has changed in a year.  Anyway, here is my card

Thanks for having a read today and I hope you have a great evening.....

Wednesday

Midweek Musings

Wednesday lunchtime already and the good news is, Paul came home. I am always so pleased to see him but he does look shattered, bless.  A very busy morning at work today and this afternoon....who knows.

Maria, do you remember Maria, she is my cake goddess.  Maria makes wonderful cakes and then I bake what she has baked because it never goes wrong and always tastes fantastic.   To find out more visit her blog HERE well she has been quiet lately and therefore I havent been baking but, she puts a post on her blog and that got me going again.  Here are the photos of my apple crumble cake which really is scrummy.  Thank you so much Maria, you are a star and I am so pleased you returned to blog land, even if you are thinner lol.

I tried to photograph how tall it was in comparison to the tin, I didnt think that it would stop rising

It was very tricky to get out of the pan.  next time I will have to add some greaseproof paper lengthways to help take it out but phew, I was lucky.

The inside of the scrummy apple crumble cake. I put sultanas in instead of raisens and it really is wonderful
Thank you Maria, once more
And of course, yet another cushion....addicted.  Its going to be little hearts next I think, we shall see.
This cushion, which I am sure I am safe showing you, is for Ollie.  Ollie is my neice (who lives next door) son, Ollie who will be 1 this weekend.  I am not sure how appropriate it is to make cushions for boys....what do you think??

Thanks for having a read and look forward to seeing what you think about cushions for boys

Tuesday

Tuesday's Twitter

Sometimes, its nice just to sit there and put a kit together so that is what I did recently.  I had this wonderful vintage kit of four cards.  I sat and pressed out the precut dies, attached SU 3D foam pads on the back and stuck them to the card.  When I had finished I put glitter everywhere and WOW, I love my four cards.  I havent put sentiments on them yet as I dont know who they are for but, they are NOT in my Sale basket.

If you are looking for a card, before nipping out to the shop give me a little thought.  I have lots and lots of cards here at home for 50p.  I guess that only applies if you live in Derby but, if you do call in, I am always happy to make a cuppa.

I shall be putting in a SU order this week so, if there is anything that you fancy, just a bit of card, or an ink pad, anything at all, just let me know.  Dont forget, if you have purchased something from SU recently and are struggling for ideas, give me a call on 01332 721877 and we can arrange a get together and hopefully come up with lots of ideas for you.

Speaking of SU (Stampin Up for those that dont know) have you ever fancied joining my team?  If you would like to find out more, just give me a call and I can tell you all about the free products you get and all the wonderful new friends that you can make.

Here is something that I do with all the little bits that are left over from Crafty Night or from a get together.  Its really useful (as long as I remember to keep it out on my desk).

The day wouldnt be complete without yet another cushion lol.  I cant tell you how wonderful I feel everytime one is made, I am so happy sitting there sewing away and then putting the inner in it and wow, it comes to life.  I know its not everyones cup of tea but that is what makes the world such a wonderful place (sometimes), we all like something different, well enough of my chatting, here it is

Well Paul comes home today which is great as I have missed him.  He will chill in front of the TV tonight while I go to a Jamie Oliver Party at my friends house, really looking forward to that.  So a lovely day in store.

Thanks for having a read and I hope you have a great day

Monday

I dont like Monday's

Does anyone really like Monday's? I used to, yes surprise surprise I loved Monday morning cause it meant that I was going to a job that I loved, hay ho, at least I shall be enjoying this afternoon by relaxing, putting my feet up and perhaps doing something on the sewing machine.

Yesterday saw the craft room get turned inside out, literally.  It is good to go through things you havent looked at for a long time, I found cards that I had started and not finished, lots of things for my scrapbooking that I had misplaced but, a boxful of SU sample cards has still not be found, oh heck.  I dont want to bore you with all the details so, how about these?

I am not too sure of the best way to photograph a scrapbook page to show you so I hope that you can see these okay.  I did the first page with Claire and did the second one at home.  If you didnt know, they are photos of my wedding last year.  Paul has shown me how to print of photographs so there is no stopping me now, I do hope you like them.

As I cleaned out "my space" I found these, they werent lost just misplaced..... It took me ages and ages to make them and I did them in the hopes that I would get lots of people interested in signing up with me for Stampin' Up!, but that didnt happen so, I have four sets of SU card colour sample things to give away.

If you would like one, just let me know (Wendy I have one here for you anyway).

Right, that's it, it hi ho hi ho and off to work we go.  Thanks for having a read and have a fantastic Monday x

Sunday

Sunny Sunday

So yesterday I mastered the art of uploading my holiday photos onto facebook so that my girls could see them.  I dont know what it was that I have been afraid of, just a little patience and understanding was all that was needed.  I also managed to get another cushion finished, everywhere downstairs tidy and that was before 10.00a.m.

Here is a photo of the other cushion, now that I am doing okay on Facebook, I shall be putting a picture there too, getting clever lol.

I am not too sure what to do with the cushions that I am making, feel sure that daughters and granddaughters will be asking me for them if not, I guess I shall have to sell them on ebay.

I even managed to get inserts in another 20 cards and put in the box of "cards for sale", so it was a very productive day.  Today I shall be spending the day in the craft room AGAIN.  I always seem to be sorting it out and wonder if I prefer moving things around and cleaning it rather than actually making something....umm no not really.

Thanks for having a read and I hope you get chance to spend some time in the sunshine today, yes we have sunshine in Derby.

Saturday

A weekend of catch up

Good morning from a not so windy and not so wet Derby.  The weather has been awful the last few days, what a big difference to a week ago.  Never mind, it has really helped the plants and for me, it has kept me indoors doing lots of bits and pieces.

How about a cute couple of cards from Mawgan.  Mawgan is Buffy's daughter and one of the youngest crafters I know, isnt she good.  Thank you Mawgan.

Here are a few photographs for Christiana, Sophia and Katerina.  I have been trying to tell them about the garden at home and then thought the easiest way was to show them....

No, this isnt in my garden, in fact I had a brother for my 50th birthday, now dont look aghast, here is a photo of bro

I have spent hours watching the DVD on how to use it, spent hours practising getting my seams straight and eventually I went out and purchased some pretty material.  This is my very first cushion
Now I am not too sure what I am going to do with this but I have enough material to make another 3 so that is what I hope I shall be doing this weekend, hope I can show you some more photos next week.  I got lots of cotton and a sewing book for my birthday too, which are a great help.

Thanks for taking the time to have a read today and I know it will have taken quite some time.  I am having a catch up day today, catching up with some chores, with lots of emails and blogs and generally all the little jobs I have been putting off.  I hope you have a great day whatever you are doing.....what are you doing?
